After a long day of travel yesterday, we awoke in our rooms to a breakfast of coffee, fruit, orange juice, cereal or yogurt with granola followed by a delicious cinnamon bun. After breakfast, we gathered together for our first lecture by Dr. Edward Pfeiler "On insights into dispersal, demographic history and speciation in Sonoran desert insects using mitochondrial DNA sequences".
Some of us walked around the town center in the shadow of a beautifully old church looking out onto a garden with a gazebo in the middle. After our walk, we retired for the night inside our comfortable rooms preparing for another exciting day.
